General

What Ruby Law is and how it works

Ruby Law is Canada's first AI-native law firm. Choose from 41 agreement types, answer guided questions about your deal, select your clause positions, and receive a production-ready agreement in minutes — with Canadian compliance built in. Every counsel-tier document includes optional review, annotation, and sign-off by a licensed Canadian lawyer.

Templates give you a generic document with blanks. Ruby builds each agreement from scratch based on your specific deal — your parties, your terms, your jurisdiction, your risk tolerance. Every clause is tailored and compliance-checked against current Canadian law. A template doesn't know about Waksdale. Ruby does.

Yes. Ruby Law is a licensed Canadian law practice. Every counsel-tier document is reviewed, approved, and signed off by a practicing Canadian lawyer before delivery. You get the speed of AI with the accountability of a real firm that puts its name on every document.

Founders raising capital, hiring their first team, and structuring their company. Startups that need real legal documents but don't want to spend $15,000 on a Bay Street firm for a shareholder agreement. Companies that move fast and need their legal to keep up.

Documents & Speed

What you get and how fast

Precision: minutes. You answer the wizard, we generate a full agreement instantly. Counsel-tier with lawyer review: within 2 business hours. Counsel-tier documents include a plain-language memo, redline markup, specific legal advice, and a formal sign-off.

41 agreement types across eight practice areas: Employment & People, Shareholder & Equity, IP & Confidentiality, Commercial & Services, Website & Policies, Financing, Partnerships & Ventures, and Media & Talent. We add new agreement types regularly.

Every agreement comes as a clean, formatted document ready to sign. Precision tier: the full agreement with all your selected terms and compliance checks built in. Counsel tier: everything in Precision plus a plain-language summary memo, redline markup, specific legal advice, and a formal sign-off from a licensed Canadian lawyer.

Yes. Precision documents can be re-generated with updated parameters at no additional cost — change your jurisdiction, swap a clause position, adjust a term. For counsel-tier documents, your lawyer provides specific guidance on any changes.

Pricing

Transparent costs, no surprises

Every agreement has a fixed, transparent price. You see the cost before you start. Precision pricing ranges from $89 to $359 depending on complexity. Counsel tier adds lawyer review from $299. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices, no scope creep.

Complexity. A simple NDA has fewer moving parts than a multi-party shareholder agreement with deadlock resolution and drag-along mechanics. More clauses, more compliance checks, more legal reasoning — higher price. But even our most complex agreements cost a fraction of what a traditional firm would charge.

Yes. Our bundles package commonly-needed documents together at significant savings. Every bundle includes counsel-level lawyer review. Most founders save 25–40% compared to purchasing agreements separately.

Quality & Compliance

Trust, security, and legal standards

You're not trusting the AI alone. Ruby builds. A licensed Canadian lawyer reviews. For counsel-tier documents, you receive a formal sign-off — or specific advice on what to change before signing. Every agreement references current Canadian case law and statutory requirements.

Compliance is built into the generation process, not bolted on after. Our system detects which regulations apply to your deal and weaves them in automatically — ESA and Waksdale for employment agreements, NI 45-106 for securities documents, CBCA for corporate governance, PIPEDA and CASL for commercial contracts, Quebec Law 25 for privacy.

Client data is hosted in Canadian data centres. Some AI processing uses US-based infrastructure subject to appropriate safeguards and our data processing agreements. Everything is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2) and at rest (AES-256). We don't train AI models on your data.

For Lawyers

Join the Ruby Law network

Licensed Canadian lawyers can join our review network through the Lawyer Portal. You receive pre-built agreements matched to your expertise and jurisdiction. Review, provide your sign-off or specific advice, and earn a commission on every completed case.

Lawyers earn 65% of the counsel review fee on every case. Fees range based on agreement complexity and tier. Top lawyers on our platform earn up to $8,000–$12,000 per month. Payouts are biweekly via direct deposit.

You must be a licensed lawyer in good standing with a Canadian law society. We require demonstrated expertise in at least one of our practice areas. New lawyers complete two qualification reviews before being matched with live cases.
